This is NOT an official IAWTV/Streamy Awards event but merely an opportunity for members to enjoy an evening out.

Life is tough for International Academy of Web Television members right now: buried under piles of screening materials, staring out the windows, yearning to be free. We understand, and think you should get out. Stretch your legs. Perhaps wander into Hollywood, to a place where web shows are screening in a lovely environment where you can kick-back and just watch. With drinks. That's our wish for you. 

To that end, you are invited to this special For Your Consideration web series screening event at Cinespace Hollywood, where each featured show will offer a sampling of episodes for your consideration for the 2nd Annual Streamy Awards.

This screening event is being held as a service to IAWTV Members, but is open to the everyone. Please, come, hang out, drink, laugh, and enjoy these shows of which we are so proud. Space is limited: RSVP soon!

Comedy duo Tom Konkle and David Beeler will host a “For Your Consideration” evening of acclaimed web series at Cinespace Hollywood on Friday, February 19 from 7 to 9:30p.m.  The event is being held for voting members of the International Academy of Web TV (IAWTV) who are in the process of selecting nominees for the 2^nd Annual Streamy Awards, which will take place in Los Angeles on April 11, 2010.  The screening is free and open to the general public.   Redemption: The Darkness Descending, Safety Geeks: SVI,  Life with Kat & McKay, and Space Hospital are distributed by KoldCast.TV. GOLD is distributed by Blip.tv.

 

Series’ creators will present three episodes each in an evening that kicks off with Frank Krueger’s exploration of a dangerous, underground world in Redemption: The Darkness Descending followed by Beeler and Konkle’s saucy, VFX-fueled tale of a group of semi-elite safety professionals, Safety Geeks SVI.  David Nett will present his high-stakes comedy series, GOLD, about professional fantasy role-playing gamers prepping for the big championship followed by Sandra Payne’s comedy Life with Kat & McKay, about the ups and downs of a mama’s boy and a rich daddy’s girl as they make their way to the altar.  The evening concludes with retro-futuristic comedy Space Hospital, which chronicles the adventures of the doctors and nurses stuck aboard a mobile hospital in deep space.

 

With the IAWTV and The Streamy Awards now in their second year, public screenings such as this one represent the evolution of online series and the growing integration of Digital Media into the entertainment mainstream.  Although web series thrive on the intimacy of the small screen, David Nett of Gold explains, “A screening like this enables voters and fans to see shows in optimum viewing conditions and with the energy of a live audience.”
